Expert Tips for a Successful Room Makeover: Part 2

Creating a space tailored to your style and needs can be fun yet challenging. To help, we put together a step by step list of the essentials you need to consider when developing your dream home. Make sure to check out Successful Room Makeover Part 1 for the full list of great tips and tricks. But for now, here are the rest of the steps you should follow when giving your room a successful makeover:

Step 4: Lighting

Following the flooring, you should invest in lights. Lighting can make a room feel more open as well as help positive energy move throughout the space. You will want a general light which can illuminate the whole room. This general lighting is usually an overhead lighting but not limited to just that. Afterward, decide what you will be doing in your room. Will you need specific task lights or lamps to help add light to certain areas? Finally, you can add a splash of lights used to enhance focal points. These lights can spotlight on pictures or even be LEDs behind an entertainment stand to give a three-dimensional depth look.

Step 5: Furniture & Décor

Now that your room’s general outline is complete, it will need furnished. Using your initial theme, try to select furniture that helps amplify your space. Picking matching and visual appealing furniture should make your room feel more complete. Selecting décor and wall art is also a great way to tie the room together. This is also your opportunity to select a focal point for the room. You can get a statement piece in which the whole room’s design would be focused on or invest in a focal piece of furniture or rug to make a power statement in the room.

Step 6: Balance

Lastly, your room needs balance. Your space should be easy to maneuver through and free of obstructive pathways. Find balance through complimenting design elements, matching hues, and corresponding colors. Decide if you want symmetry as well. You can have a room be perfectly symmetrical or even asymmetrical but stick to your choice. Finding harmonious balance and design flow in your room is key to mastering a successful room makeover.

Creating your newly designed space is a fun project. It takes a little bit of work and a lot of creativity and imagination. Stay focus on the task at hand and use these simple but effective guidelines to make a success, harmonized beautiful dream room. If you missed part one, be sure to check it out here.
