How to Pick Artwork for Each Room

You have probably heard the saying that a picture is worth 1,000 words; it is especially true with the artwork that you have chosen to feature in your home. If walls could talk, what would yours be saying from the art that you are displaying? With this guide, we want to focus on what tone each room has and what type of artwork can be shown through it. Let’s take a look!

How to Pick Artwork for Each Room:

1. The Kitchen.

Tone: Carefree, Happy.

Artwork Type: Cute Quotes.

Reason: Expert designers say that the kitchen is often the most forgotten room in the home for artwork. We believe that the kitchen holds a lot of design potential and that includes decor pieces like artwork. For the kitchen, we recommend adding “funny” quotes or prints. You want a more carefree, happy tone for the kitchen and this type of artwork will accomplish it.

2. The Living Room.

Tone: Comfortable, Cozy.

Artwork Type: Watercolors.

Reason: Living rooms are often the most “seen” room by guests; therefore, it can feel like a lot of added pressure to choose the perfect decor piece. For living rooms, we recommend keeping it simple and cozy. You will want to incorporate your personality while complementing your design. Watercolors can be a perfect choice if you are stuck on choosing an artwork piece.

3. The Bedroom.

Tone: Tranquil, Peaceful.

Artwork Type: Soothing Colors.

Reason: Your bedroom is a relaxing oasis from the stressfulness of everyday life. Take your bedroom to the new levels of tranquility with soft colors and soothing tones. This type of artwork will help keep the calming, comfortable tone of the room while completing the overall design.

4. The Office.

Tone: Inspirational, Work-Mode.

Artwork Type: Inspiring Message.

Reason: While working, you want to be inspired by your artwork. Inspirational pieces can help keep you motivated during extended hours. In offices, we recommend creating a gallery wall with a mixture of different pieces. An assortment will help to keep you creative and focused during crunch time.

5. The Bathroom.

Tone: Bright, Airy or Calm, Serene.

Artwork Type: Nature.

Reason: A lot of times, homeowners forget that bathrooms can contain pieces of artwork. We recommend keeping it simple throughout the bathroom. Pictures of nature can create the calming vibe you want in bathrooms while complementing the color scheme.
