The Art of The Accent Wall

An accent wall is a statement wall found within a room. Typically, the wall is painted a different color than the other walls. Accent walls can be used as focal points or as a way to add life to the space. To help you create the best accent wall possible, we have created a guide of the art of the accent wall with everything you need to know. Let’s take a look.

The Art of The Accent Wall:

1. Warm Tones.

Warm tone colors tend to work best in narrow spaces. The warm hues help to create more symmetry and balance throughout the space. Plus, warm colors add comfort to the space without making the room feel smaller. You can utilize warm tones on your walls for a subtle sense of warmth and design.

2. Cool Tones.

Cool tone colors work well at opening up a small room. The cool tones help to bring an airy, light feeling into the room. You can even continue the color onto the ceiling to help give the illusion that the ceiling is higher.

3. The Direction of The Room.

The direction that your bedroom faces can determine what tone you should use. In east/north facing rooms, you will want to choose a warmer hue because they tend to feel/look cooler. In west/south facing rooms, you will want to choose a cooler hue because they tend to feel/look warmer.

4. Accent Wall in Bedrooms.

In a bedroom, the accent wall tends to be where the head of your bed sits; however, you are not limited to this wall. Whatever wall you want to get the most attention, should be set as your accent wall.

5. Dress up Your Accent Wall.

Just because your accent wall is painted a color, does not mean that you cannot decorate it. You want to complete the room’s design and tie everything together with the accent wall. Whether it is your furniture placement or hanging decorations, you want to take time while decorating your accent wall. It is important not to cover it up too much with items as well as not leave it too bare. You want it to add a special touch throughout the space without creating an unbalanced look.
