What Is Trending in Interior Design?

Trends come and go throughout the design industry. Sometimes they are hard to notice unless you are keeping a good look on the market. We have seen several significant changes in the industry through the last couple of years. While these styles are always evolving, we can see several key differences in the industry. Maybe you have noticed some of them or perhaps not. Let us know how many of these popular trends you recognized this year.

A New Trend in Metal Accents

We have seen several trends of metals in the last couple of years. From the rose gold craze of 2014 to the copper and brass appliance trend that came up the last couple of years, we continue to see situations where metals are popular in households. However, this year, especially, we see something quite significant and unique. This year has created a blend of mixing and matching metal accents. It creates a balance of silvers and golds while modernizing and adapting to the space.

Bold Colored Walls

While bold colors use to be expressed through simple accents or even accent walls, we begin to see another shift. Interior design and homeowners are starting to become more daring and adding more dramatic colors throughout a room. The old agenda of neutral being dominant in the room with a slight accent is fading. We have seen a significant uprising in bold colors being adding in rooms in substantial quantities.

Lighter Colored Floor

Another trend which has made a significant switch is flooring. Prior years have usually followed a fundamental rule of thumb: dark colors on the floors and lighter colors on the walls. However, we now notice a considerable input of hard surface flooring being light in color. With hard surface flooring being easier to clean, we tend to get more elegant, lighter-colored floorings than traditionally seen.

Have you noticed any of these trends in homes or businesses? Where do you think the industry is heading? What have you noticed about interior design in the last couple of years? We would love to hear from you! Let us know your thoughts and opinions below in the comment section.
