Butcher Block Countertops

Solid surface countertops have been extremely popular for the past couple of years. In fact, you may notice a lot of your friends have them. However, butcher block counters are an excellent alternative to solid surface countertops. To help you find out if wood countertops are right for you, be sure to keep reading!

Affordable

This product is more affordable than marble or granite countertops. It is also more durable and easy to install. The price can vary depending on the thickness and wood species; however, it instantly adds beauty to any kitchen space.

Unmatched Beauty

Wood countertops give a warmer look to any kitchen. They literally feel warm when compared to other solid surface tops. Being a raw material, butcher block adds life to a space.

Pairing with Cabinets

One consideration to take into account is that butcher block tops should be paired with painted cabinets. Placing this material with wood finishes will create a wood-overload. White or black painted cabinets look fabulous when paired with a wood countertop. Since different species of woods are available, it is possible to get a light yellow finish or a warmer red tone. There is not one specific color; many different tones are available for purchase.

Minimal Maintenance

It is nice to be able to prep anywhere on the countertop. No need to grab a cutting board simply cut right on the block. As time goes by, a light sanding will give you a brand-new look! This product does require light maintenance. Either it needs to be sealed once a year or oiled monthly. Some people prefer to oil it because they desire the sheen that oil provides. It is a glossy look, as opposed to a matte finish.

Butcher block countertops are perfect for a chef’s kitchen. They look and feel warm. Plus, prep work is a breeze. Some people prefer the look of the scratch marks because it shows character and feels more casual. This countertop would be an excellent choice for anyone who wants a warm feel and loves to cook!
