What’s Trending in Carpet Styles?

There are a ton of great flooring options available for your home that will give you the look you want. That being said, nothing says comfort quite like the feel of carpeting underfoot. You will most likely have some space in your home that can benefit from the installation of carpet and give the room a cozy, welcoming appearance. This can be accomplished through wall-to-wall carpeting or even an area rug. No matter which type of carpeting fits your needs, there are always going to be great new solutions for your design. Here are some of this year’s up and coming trends in carpeting:

Plush

This year we are going to see two opposing styles going head to head in a popularity contest for home decorating: plush and formal. Plush styles will always give you a sense of comfort and ease, especially when installed in a bedroom, where relaxation is a top priority. Popular choices for this year are frieze carpeting and the cut and loop style. The twisted look of the frieze carpet creates an instant casual feeling that would be perfect in a living room, where you want to relax with a glass of wine and lounge on the couch at the end of a long day. The cut and loop style provides interesting patterns in what may be a “plain” room and will help provide some texture to the space.

Formal

The formal look is achieved through carpet styles that you are more likely to see in a business setting, but they are starting to make an appearance in residential areas. For those who want a more direct approach and minimal fuss with their flooring, this is best achieved through carpet tiles. You can choose all neutrals or a bright, beautiful pattern and enjoy the ease that you can play around with this look by sprinkling a mixture of color types. You can create geometric shapes, borders, and asymmetrical patterns, while also getting the bonus of being able to replace tiles individually if they are damaged without having to replace the entire piece of material.

Colors

Colors will also play into the game of extremes as neutrals will always be a classic choice to build a room’s color palette. Meanwhile bolder and brighter colors will be showcased in smaller areas and sprinkled throughout large areas to give your floors more of a chance to garner some attention. In addition to your mainstays of brown and gray, neutrals are also going to be spiced up with mint greens and soft yellows. As for the bolder color choices available, welcome in your rich berry colors (think reds, blues, and purples) with a sprinkling of orange for the super bold at heart.
