How to Create Privacy in Your Backyard

Our home is our refuge.  With today being so socially demanding, it is no surprise that people desire more privacy in their homes.  Our chance to escape the chaotic world demands is becoming fewer as our work and social life can follow us home with today’s technology.  Investing in some home privacy is an easy way to help refortify your property.  It can create security, eliminate noises, define property lines, and enhance a place of solitude.  The next step you need to take is to decide what kind of privacy wall is best for you. Let’s take a look!

Privacy Hedge

Planting trees or bushes around your property is a great aesthetic solution.  This living privacy fence can reduce noise and serve as a visually pleasing fence.  Typically, evergreens are used for their density, however, bushes and other trees can make excellent solutions as well.  Determine how high and wide you want your wall to be, but remember that it can get costly for larger properties.  It is also important to note that trees and bushes are living.  The plants will grow and need to be maintained.

Brick Wall

For more security, consider a brick wall privacy fence.  Depending on the height, these can create superior home security.  They will eliminate sound, harsh winds, and animals from entering your property.  With many different styles available, you should easily find a style to match your home.  You can use this around your property, or just use it to enclose a back patio or porch.  Brick walls can be great if you have small pets that you do not want to wander.

Wooden Fence

Another privacy solution is a wooden fence.  It has a natural look and is versatile for many homes.  You can customize them with paint or a stain to tailor it to best suit your home’s style.  Being more affordable than stone, it is an option worth considering; however, these can weather and dry rot.  A wooden fence can provide an exceptional level of security and help reduce some noise.

Pergola

Lastly, if you do not have a deck, patio, or porch, but are still looking to create a private hangout spot, consider investing in a pergola.  Different designs offer more styles of privacy than others.  Look and find one which is best for you.  These are still beautiful to put in your yard and have come a long way.  While not the most private option, they can surely be one of the most affordable.

We understand that privacy is important, and finding privacy in the exterior of your home can be more challenging than the inside of your house.  Discover and explore the many options of exterior privacy to find the perfect solution for you.
