Avoid These Christmas Décor Mistakes

With the holiday season here and Christmas quickly approaching, we can sometimes get lost in all the chaos while putting up our décor.  It is wonderful to be festive; however, some mistakes can hurt your holiday spirit more than inspire it.  To help you prevent these mishaps, we put together three simple holiday décor mistakes you should avoid this season. Let’s take a look!

Overloaded Power Strip

Christmas décor comes with many bright lights.  Be cognitive though that you do not want to overload your power strips.  Be strategic of what lights go where and decide what you will be plugging into each outlet.  You may want to invest in safety power strips to avoid surges.  Remember, wires can get messy as well, so you want to have a way to hide them efficiently yet safely!

Pet Mishaps

Speaking of all those wires, if you have pets, you may need to consider where your wires run.  Think of all the potential hazards, not to mention your animals can snack on as well.

Poinsettias, holly, even mistletoe can be very dangerous for your animals to eat.  Place everything away from where animals can access the items.  You should probably avoid poisonous plants altogether if you have pets.  Taking these proactive steps can prevent any unwanted emergency pet visits this holiday.

Dead Tree by Christmas

Avoid having your tree looking withered before the big day.  Christmas trees demand a lot of water, so make sure you prepare for that.  Your base should always be submerged in water to continually keep the tree hydrated.  Keep an eye out for tree health signs like shedding of pine needles or becoming more brittle quickly.  If you do not consider yourself somewhat of a green thumb, perhaps go with a faux tree to avoid this stress.

Taking these precautionary steps can help avoid unwanted stress this holiday season.  Keep your trees looking great and your pets happy this season by taking a couple extra essential steps.
