Expert Advice for Selecting a Paint Color

When you think about it, there are an infinite amount of colors for you to choose from for your next paint project. Narrowing down the search can seem daunting and down-right overwhelming. If you are struggling to find the perfect color for your home’s interior, we have five must-see tips for you. Let’s take a look!

Expert Advice for Selecting a Paint Color for Your Home’s Interior:

Tip #1: Color Inspiration.

Great design begins with inspiration. Search the web, magazines, and posts for designs that inspire you. Try to get a good idea of what look you are trying to achieve and focus on paint colors that captivate it. Once you have narrowed down your search of what you like, begin to make a list. Write down your favorites, and you can, later on, expand from there.

Tip #2: Love Neutrals.

If you decide to use color in your space, you will most likely be pairing it with a few neutral tones. Neutrals can be your best friend when it comes to decorating. They never go out of style, they tend to go with everything, and they blend seamlessly into a design. Our best advice for choosing a neutral is to understand undertones. Make sure that you choose a neutral color that has the same undertone as the other colors in your room. Trust us, this will help the design blend.

Tip #3: Use an Item.

If you are still struggling to find the perfect color, you can pull a color from a print or object featured somewhere in the space. Whether that be a pillow or a vase, you can incorporate the color into other areas of the space to help create an effortless design.

Tip #4: Go Outdoors.

Your city’s climate can actually help determine the color scheme for your space. If you live in warmer weather, you can bring in some of the warm hues to create a flawless transition, vice versa for cold weather.

Tip #5: Always Take a Sample.

Sampling can be your best friend when selecting a paint. It is always a good idea to take a paint color home with you before committing. The color can look different in different lighting, times of the day, and areas of the room. Be sure to swatch a few areas of the room then buy a full can of paint.
