Kitchen Remodeling Mistakes to Avoid

Are you in the market for a new kitchen? Maybe you are selling your home, or perhaps you want a fresh look. Whatever the reason for your remodel, we have four mistakes that you will want to avoid. Let’s take a look!

Kitchen Remodeling Mistakes to Avoid:

1. Being too Trendy.

You may be familiar with the saying that “trends come and go,” and with remodels, this is particularly true. Be wary about the trends that you decide to incorporate because it may seem “outdated” in the next couple of years. Experts recommend sticking to a neutral color palette if you are planning on every reselling your home. Opting for more classic additions can help ensure that your home will stay in style longer.

2. Not Upgrading Appliances.

Appliances can be a great way to “up” your kitchen’s value. With recent innovations, you can have an energy-efficient appliance that also helps to update your space. Be sure to take a good look at your appliance’s aesthetic appeal, especially if you are reselling your home. There is nothing worse than losing out on a sale due to an outdated appliance that could have been easily replaced.

3. Not Incorporating Materials into The Design.

The entire room should be considered entirely during the design process. From your cabinet’s hardware to dining room chair fabric, you want to be sure that you have everything figured out before the remodel starts. This will help ensure that there are consistency and transitional features throughout the space.

4. Trying to Cover too Many Bases.

If you are remodeling for resale, you are probably trying to get inside of a buyer’s head to guarantee a sale. Unfortunately, there are too many avenues to consider. You cannot please everyone and meet an array of different expectations. Your best bet is to keep it simple and classic. You may not be including something unique that one particular buyer wants, but you are conforming to a wide variety of buyers by sticking to a classic selection.
