Tips for Creating a Family-Friendly Kitchen

Kitchens can be an important aspect of a home. From family dinners to holiday meals, your kitchen has been through it all. A lot of laughs and smiles have been apart of your kitchen and you may want to emphasize on it being family-friendly. Well, where do you begin? To start, we have created five simple tips to help you make a kitchen that is perfect for you and your family.

Five Tips for Making a Family-Friendly Kitchen:

Tip #1: Easy-to-Clean + Easy-to-Maintain.

With large or small families, things tend to get messy. To help combat the mess, we recommend buying easy-to-clean/easy-to-maintain features. Your floors and countertops should be the least of your worries during an accidental spill or mess. Be sure to purchase durable features to make sure that your home is more forgiving when accidents occur.

Tip #2: Extra Storage.

If your kitchen does not have plenty of storage, you will find yourself frustrated and overwhelmed. During a remodel, you want to make sure that your kitchen is full of storage space for food, dishes, and other kitchen essentials.

Tip #3: Open Floor Plan.

An open floor plan is an excellent idea for parents trying to keep an eye on their children while they are cooking dinner. Plus, this open arrangement makes for a continual flow between your living room and kitchen. This will help allow you to talk and spend time with one another even if you are in “separate rooms.”

Tip #4: Plenty of Seating.

To make a kitchen family-friendly, you want to invite each other’s company. That means you need to have plenty of seating for everyone. If your family loves to gather around one another, you could install bar seating. This will allow your kids do their homework while you cook.

Tip #5: Fun Features.

While remodeling your kitchen, you have the chance to add new and exciting features. Get creative and explore the different interests you and your family have. Maybe you want to add an ice cream bar, an espresso stand, or a wine cooler. A remodel is a time make it special for you and your family.
