Now that summer is around the corner, do you feel that getting to the gym, yoga class or boot camp is difficult? Do you have a workout room at home? Why not ramp up your equipment at home and work out there? Now there is no excuse to get moving.
Hang a flat screen on the wall of your workout room. You can watch exercise TV or play fitness DVD’s instead of running mindlessly on the treadmill.
What kind of flooring do you have for your workout space? You’ll want a durable, yet flexible material that will help absorb all of the physical activity.
Install a good sound system. Nothing gets you motivated like some good tunes – the louder the better.
Purchase a bosu ball. This is a great piece of equipment to strengthen core muscles as well as improve balance and coordination. Do squats with hand weights, pushups or invert the ball and try some planks.
Remember step aerobics? Get a step for your workout room. Jump squats are a great way to work on your cardio and leg strength. (Be sure you see your doctor before starting an intensive workout plan).
One of the newest fads in workout equipment is a viPR. ViPR’s are rubber tubes that come in different weights. They can be dragged, lifted and swung to increase your strength, balance and agility. Workouts can be downloaded on ViPRfit.com.
Checkout TRX straps and add some suspension training to your regular workouts.
Mixing up the types of workouts you do will keep you from getting bored and ultimately from stopping doing any kind of exercise. Now get going and watch those pounds melt away.
