Tips for Cleaning Your Shower

Tile has been a luxurious addition that homeowners and businesses have been using for centuries. From marble floors to backsplashes, tile is used in many ways throughout homes. In fact, areas like tiled showers can be the highlight of any bathroom. However, showers can be a prime area for bacteria and gunk to build up over time. Properly and regularly cleaning your shower tile is key to keeping them looking pristine for years to come. If you are looking to clean your shower tiles, here is everything you need to know:

Tile

Tile is very durable, low maintenance, and easy to clean. Over time, tile may seem to lose its sheen and begin to have a dull glaze over top of it. However, mild cleaning detergent and a soft washcloth will polish your tiles. For harder-to-remove soot, you can use a mop. Grittier tiles may be more resistant to removing the debris; however, some water and detergent will break up the grim. Remember to go back over with clean water when you are done to remove any remaining dirt.

Grout

While tile is very easy to clean, grout is not always that simple. Its very porous nature allows for soot to penetrate deep into the compound. Use warm water and a bristle brush to scrub all your grout lines. You can add vinegar to your water as well to help break up some of the debris. By mixing baking soda and vinegar, you can help clean your grout lines. Hydrogen peroxide or bleach are other great alternatives. Just be sure to allow your cleaning compound to soak into the grout for about ten to fifteen minutes then rinse with water.

Showerhead

If your showerhead needs to be cleaned, you can use white vinegar as well. Fill a bucket up with white vinegar and place your showerhead into the bucket. The acid from the vinegar will break down the residue built up around and inside your showerhead. Allow this to soak for up to thirty minutes before rinsing with water.

Tiled showers can look immaculate when properly cleaned. It is crucial to stay on top of your cleaning and maintenance schedule. With these three steps, you will able to have your shower looking brand new in no time. For more cleaning and home improvement tips and tricks, make sure to subscribe!
