Short-Term Lease Design Tips

It is a blast to put your own flair and style into your home’s design. In fact, interior design an outlet to express yourself and make your house your own. However, it can be difficult in areas that limit your creativity. Short term leases can forbid you from painting walls, hanging pictures, or even changing appliances. With these rules and regulations, it is easy to feel like you have no freedom in creating your space. Yet, have no fear, there are still plenty of opportunities for designing your atmosphere. Here are three key ways that you can turn a short-term lease into a long-term memory:

Greenery

Plants are great additions to any home design. You can take them with you when you move, yet they can increase your home vitality and air quality while you are there. Try adding a variety of different greenery to your space to help spruce it up. From succulents to ivies, there is a whole world of indoor plants at your fingertips to explore.

Rugs

You are not going to replace the flooring in your apartment necessarily; however, you may want to consider a rug. If you have a cold, hard surface flooring in your living room or bedrooms, why not add a rug? Find an area rug that works with your moveable items like your furniture and décor. Do not adapt the rug to the living situation; instead, adapt the temporary living situation to your rug.

Lighting

Lighting can dramatically affect the energy and add life to any room. If you only have some generic lighting in your rooms, consider adding some other forms. Lamps can serve as an excellent task light. You can add a light rail in your home to help create accent lighting, as well. Adding more lighting to your environment can help liven up your dull atmosphere.

Textiles

Different textiles like curtains and throw pillows can also help your home. They will add a sense of warmth to the atmosphere. Theses cozy additions are just one more easy way to tailor your space to your wants. Consider matching curtains with throw pillows and adding a corresponding blanket to give the space a uniformed feel.

Temporary living situations can be tough. You want the place to feel like home but do not want to make long term investments. Be careful with investing in significant investments that may not fit in your next home. Even furniture should be selected for long term goals, not tailored to your short-term lease.
