Solving the Most Common Carpet Problems

Let’s be honest; carpet can make or break a room. In its plush state, it adds warmth and style to a space. However, it can be difficult to keep your carpet looking vibrant and fresh without proper care and maintenance. If you live in fear of damaging your precious carpet, we have four hacks that will solve most problems that may arise with your carpet flooring. Let’s take a look!

Problem # 1 – Dent in the Carpet

Have you been rearranging the furniture in the room? No doubt, moving furniture around can change the whole look of a room, but it can also potentially damage your carpet. Dents from heavy tables, couches, and chairs can make dents in the carpet. Such dents can distract from the beauty room. You can easily remove dents from the carpet by using ice cubes. Take firm ice cubes and let it sit on the indentation. Let the cubes melt into the surface and dry. You will find that the dents have disappeared.

Problem # 2 Bad Odors

Are you plagued by bad odors that will not go away? Foul odors from pets, food, and even the children tend to cling to the carpet. You can easily rid your carpet of lingering smells, and food stuck in the thread by laying down baking soda. Baking soda can be used to absorb foreign smells. All you have to do is sprinkle baking soda across the carpet, let it sit for a few hours and then vacuum up the remnants.

Problem #3 Stubborn Stains

Unfortunately, you cannot put a large rug into the washing machine to get rid of the stains. Hiring a professional carpet cleaning service to remove a few stains can be expensive. Did you know that shaving cream is effective at getting rid of almost any type of stain on carpet? Just allow the shaving cream to absorb in the carpet fibers and voila, the stain is removed!

Problem # 4 High Traffic Areas

Do you find that one particular area of the carpet tends to get dirty faster? Preserve high traffic areas by using a small area rug to protect the carpet. Be sure to rotate the rug 180 degrees every six months to keep it from getting too worn.

Do you have any tried-and-true hacks that you would like to share with other readers? If so, let us know below in the comment section.

*Disclaimer – Always check with your manufacturer before using any cleaning method on your carpet. Also, try the cleaning method out on a small, unseen area first before trying on visible, large areas.
