What Your Design Says About You (Part One)

As you know, designing your home can be a special way to express yourself. Designers believe that how homeowners style their houses can actually say a lot about their character.  Like with anything, our taste can change over time, or we can like multiple designs for many different reasons.  To dive deeper into why certain people like particular designs, we analyzed several design themes and the possible characteristics of the homeowner associated with them. Let’s take a look!

Rustic

Rustic design is a classic theme that thrives from earthy tones and countryside elements found in nature.  People who enjoy Rustic design usually appreciate authenticity and fine craftsmanship.  Rustic theme is a reflection of the outdoors brought inside the home.  This country design is perfect for people who love nature, and who are homey individuals that find peace in the warmth and coziness in their own home. Rustic design aspires to capture true hygge.  This type of design wants you to feel at home in its environment.  With the warm, earthy atmosphere, Rustic design is very inviting, and the host is probably very welcoming as well.

Eclectic

Eclecticism is known to be creative and fun.  It collects strengths from different themes and introduces them all into one environment.  Individuals with an eclectic atmosphere are considered artsy.  They enjoy bright colors as a strong influence in the room’s design.  While eclectic style may seem chaotic, it has a focus at the heart.  Those who incorporate this style into their home appreciate the little things in life.  They neglect favoritism and value everything as its own individual piece of art.

Contemporary

Are you the person who loves the latest trends?  Needs the newest things? Or is up to date on pop culture?  Contemporary design is always evolving.  These individuals understand that the latest developments lead to the latest advancements.  Contemporary atmospheres are never quite complete; they are continuously cycling through updates and renovations.  These individuals love the newest phones, fashion, and cars.  They do not resist change but embrace it as an experience for growth.  These go-getters are bold and are continually studying new ideas.  Contemporary hosts are usually very excited and welcoming to showing you their enhanced atmosphere.  It is a sense of pride that they love sharing with their guest to make them feel more welcomed.

These presumptions are primarily based on color psychology, themes and tones, and a general understanding of designs. If you feel like you did not characterize with any of these designs, make sure to check out the rest of our series to see how other characteristics can be associated with your home’s design.
