Relaxing Paint Colors for Your Home’s Interior

After various studies, scientists conclude that colors indeed do affect our moods and even emotions. For example, shades of red can evoke a stress response, making us feel anxious and even alert, while lavender provides soothing comfort. In order to create a stress-free environment, it is essential to recognize the different emotions associated with colors. Since colors help influence our moods, they can ultimately set the tone of your space. To master this principle, we provided six popular soothing colors for you to try. Let’s take a look!

White

The color white symbolizes fresh cleanliness. If you are stressed, the color white helps to clarify your thought process. Choosing a clean, bright white can help you make decisions and have peace of mind.  If you select a stark white, it can look dull and seem dirty. To create a peaceful sanctuary, experts recommend opting for a bright white to keep things clear. They also recommend adding a few potted green plants for an added airy, light feeling.

Pink

Feng Shui says that pink helps to soothe energies within a room while promoting tranquility and peace. Also, do not think of pink as only a feminine color, the right shade of pink can be appealing in almost any room. Not to mention, it pairs effortlessly with any neutral tone to create a well-balanced space.

Blue

Most males traditionally favor the color blue, which evokes clarity and conciseness. Blue is known to lower your blood pressure and reduce anxiety. Blue bathrooms are perfect for creating a breezy, coastal effect. If you choose blue for the bedroom, the safest choice is a soft, neutral blue as opposed to a bold cobalt blue. The light blues will help keep the space light and airy which helps create that coastal effect.

Green

Green is a peaceful and relaxing color since it symbolizes nature. Green creates harmonious feelings that diffuse anxiety. Blue-greens and grey-greens are the most serene tones within the green family, and they are ideal for family rooms, bathrooms, and bedrooms.

Violets + Lavenders

Violets and lavenders represent wisdom, peace, and inner strength. They are often used in yoga studios, and studies suggest the power of meditation is ten times greater under violet light. If violets/lavenders are not your choices for a room color, you can introduce the color into rooms with plants or decorative pieces.

Grey

Grey has been very popular and continues to be used in fashion and home design. Although, many homeowners do not prefer grey and say it is cold and drab. The key is to pair grey with complimentary colors. Painting a room grey is the perfect opportunity to bring in violet colored accessories we previously mentioned. Yellow also looks fantastic with grey and makes a room appear lively and energetic. Remember, you can always pair grey with another color to create an additional mood for the room.

Which color is your favorite? Does it have to do with the way it makes you feel? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comment section.
